Previews
A preview is a short clip shown to viewers before they watch a piece of content — like a trailer, giving viewers a taste without requiring a subscription.
How previews work
A preview is not a separate upload. You pick any video already in your library and optionally define a start timestamp and an end timestamp to trim the playback window. The underlying video file is the same; only the playback range differs.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Video | Any video from your library to use as the preview |
| Start time | Optional. Playback begins at this timestamp (e.g. 00:01:30). Defaults to the beginning of the video |
| End time | Optional. Playback stops at this timestamp. Defaults to the end of the video |
Setting a preview
- Open a content node in Admin → Content
- Go to the Preview tab
- Search and select a video from your library
- Optionally set start and end timestamps to clip the playback range
Streaming
Preview videos are streamed through the same endpoint as regular videos and follow the same access rules and visibility permissions.
Preview access control
If you attach the same video as both the content's main video and its preview, the preview will be subject to the same tier and visibility restrictions as the main video — meaning it may not be visible to unauthenticated or lower-tier viewers. Using a separate, unrestricted video for the preview is recommended.
Where previews appear
Previews are currently used in content cards across the browse page — the clip plays on hover (depending on theme).
