Self-Hosted Ads
Self-hosted ads are ad entries you manage directly on your platform. No third-party ad network is involved — you reference videos from your own library and define playback behavior.
Creating an ad
Go to Admin → Ads and click Create Ad.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Internal label for this ad (not shown to viewers) |
| Video | A video from your library used as the ad clip. Upload the video in Admin → Videos first, then select it here |
| Click URL | Optional. URL viewers are redirected to if they click the ad. Leave empty for non-clickable ads |
| Skip After | Optional. How long the ad plays before the viewer can skip it. Leave empty for non-skippable ads |
| Active | Toggle to pause or resume delivery without deleting the ad |
Assigning ads to breaks
Once an ad is created, you can pin it to an ad break on a content node. If no ad is pinned to a break, the platform selects one from the active ad pool via rotation.
If an ad is inactive when a break plays, that break is skipped and the video continues normally.
Billing
Self-hosted ad delivery is billed based on usage. The rate and included impression volume are defined in your contract.
Ad video requirements
- Same supported formats as content videos (MP4, MOV, MKV)
- Recommended: short clips (15–60 seconds) encoded at the target delivery resolution
- Transcoding and packaging happens automatically after upload
